Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure location meets requirements.

  1. Remove packaging: Take off all tape, foam, and cardboard. Keep door straps until unit is in final location.
  2. Position refrigerator: Place on a level, solid floor. Allow minimum clearances: 2" top, 2" back, 1" sides.
  3. Connect water line: For ice/water dispenser, connect to a cold water line with a 1/4" copper supply line.
  4. Plug into dedicated outlet: Use a properly grounded 115V, 60Hz AC outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
  5. Let stabilize: After moving, let refrigerator stand upright for at least 2 hours before plugging in.

WARNING! Refrigerator is heavy; use two or more people to move and install. Ensure water connection is tight to prevent leaks.

First-Time Setup

After installation, prepare the refrigerator for use.

  1. Initial power on: Plug in the refrigerator. The interior lights and control panel should illuminate.
  2. Set temperature: Press the TEMP button on the control panel. Set refrigerator to 37°F (3°C) and freezer to 0°F (-18°C).
  3. Dispenser lock: Press and hold the LOCK button for 3 seconds to enable/disable the control panel and dispenser.
  4. Start ice maker: Ensure water supply is connected. Lift the ice maker feeler arm to the "up" (ON) position.
  5. First ice batch: Discard the first batch of ice (about 24 cubes) to flush the system.

CAUTION! Do not load food until the refrigerator has reached the set temperatures (may take 24 hours).

Buttons: TEMP (cycles through fridge/freezer temp settings), ICE TYPE (cubed/crushed), LOCK (child lock), FILTER RESET, POWER COOL, POWER FREEZE.

Temperature Settings: Use TEMP button and +/- pads. Range: Refrigerator 34°F - 46°F (1°C - 8°C), Freezer -6°F - 8°F (-21°C - -13°C). Power Cool: Rapidly cools the refrigerator compartment for 2 hours. Power Freeze: Rapidly freezes in the freezer for 24 hours. Filter Reset: Press and hold for 3 seconds after replacing water filter. Lock: Disables all panel and dispenser buttons.

Using the Ice & Water Dispenser

Press a glass against the dispenser paddle.

  1. Select ice type: Press ICE TYPE to choose between Cubed Ice and Crushed Ice.
  2. Dispense ice: Firmly press glass against the ice dispenser paddle.
  3. Dispense water: Firmly press glass against the water dispenser paddle.
  4. To stop: Remove glass from the paddle.

Tips: Use sturdy glasses. First water draw may contain air. Replace water filter every 6 months (LED indicator will flash).

WARNING! Do not use with glass that is cracked or chipped. Children should be supervised.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning interior. Use mild detergent and warm water; rinse and dry.

  1. Exterior: Clean with soft cloth dampened with mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Interior: Remove shelves and bins. Wash in warm, soapy water. Wipe interior surfaces.
  3. Door Gaskets: Wipe with clean, damp cloth to remove food particles.
  4. Condenser Coils: Vacuum the rear or base grill every 6-12 months for efficiency.
  5. Dispenser Drip Tray: Remove and wash regularly.

CAUTION! Never use harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents. Do not pour water over or into the control panel.

Smart Diagnosis

Use the LG SmartThinQ app for troubleshooting.

  1. Download the LG SmartThinQ app from your phone's app store.
  2. Open the app and follow instructions to register your refrigerator.
  3. If an issue occurs, the app can run a Smart Diagnosis test.
  4. Place the phone's microphone near the Smart Diagnosis logo on the control panel and press the appropriate button as instructed by the app.
  5. The app will analyze the sound and provide possible solutions or service information.

This feature helps identify issues without a service call.
